The residents in Diamond Bay have endured endless development due to the three streets that make up the suburb being zoned R3 Medium Density Residential. With only one street to enter or exit, at least 13 new multi-unit dwellings have been built in the last 16 years with their additional residents and cars causing the area to become overdeveloped.

The Liberals have pushed for the zoning to be changed due to the potential for even more blocks of units to be built under the current zoning. To ensure a reasonable lifestyle for existing residents downzoning of this suburb is critical. Through our efforts it is expected that the 2021 LEP will include a change to R2 Low Density Residential bringing some relief to residents.
