Putting Waverley First, the Waverley Liberals have been working hard for the community and are proud of their achievements:
✅ In 2008 we introduced Waverley’s Environment Targets including the target for Zero Emissions by 2050 - this has now been updated to 2030
✅ Mill Hill Early Childhood Education Centre and the Margaret Whitlam Recreation and Community Centres were built in Bondi Junction and Waverley Park, respectively
✅ A synthetic playing field was installed at Waverley Park on field 2 allowing year-round use for sporting clubs
✅ Additional green open space was purchased at Tamarama Gully and Niblick Reserve
✅ Tamarama Park was upgraded with a new kiosk and amenities, surf club storage, and landscaping
✅ Major streetscape upgrade & cycle path installation in Bondi Junction
✅ Alexandria Integrated Facilities - a multipurpose works depot and administration building was built
✅ The Coastal Walk along the cemetery was reconstructed and improved after the 2016 storms
✅ New Public Artworks in Bondi Beach & Bondi Junction
✅ Bondi Beach Park was landscaped and the new ‘wave’ design picnic shelters were installed
✅ The North Bondi toilets were rebuilt and outdoor showers relocated, and the Marks Park toilet block was upgraded
✅ Brisbane St Plaza in Bondi Junction and Blake St corner in Dover Heights were upgraded
✅ New Playgrounds have been built at Barracluff Park, Marlborough Reserve, Varna Park, O’Donnell St, MacPherson St, Clarke St and an upgrade at Bondi Beach
✅ In a joint venture with the Bondi and Districts Chamber of Commerce we formed the Waverley Business Forum
✅ The Community Safety Advisory and Housing Committees were re-introduced - Labor has since cancelled the Community Safety Advisory Committee which is having an adverse impact on residents
✅ We have successfully lobbied to receive grant funding for Council infrastructure projects
✅ The Prayer, dumped by Labor, was reinstated at the opening of all Council Meetings The Waverley Liberals will continue to build upon our record of championing infrastructure upgrades that make Waverley safer, more accessible and more beautiful.
The Waverley Liberals want to return Council to financial sustainability, restore a caring customer service focused organisation that listens and delivers for the community, and to get back to basics including fixing potholes, maintaining playgrounds and consulting with the community in an open and transparent manner.
